Remote Worker Mistakes, Part 2
Being Remote Doesn’t Have To Mean Being All Alone
It’s impossible not to be a little isolated when you first start remote work, but staying isolated after the initial start-up phase is not a wise choice.
My Other Mistake
In the first article of this series, I shared the financial mistake I made as a remote worker, and now I will share about my other mistake. When I first became a remote worker, I didn’t value the community created by and for remote workers, and this was a mistake. Over time, I came to understand the value of staying plugged into the online discussion board and attending optional events and training.
Introvert? Trauma Survivor?
For introverts and people recovering from trauma, there may be a temptation to let fear of people (social anxiety), or apathy about people, hold you back from plugging in and networking consistently. I am very aware of this aspect of choosing remote work… sometimes it’s simply because you don’t want to be around people in person, for whatever reasons.
I shared some insights about how you can start to change yourself, if you want to change, in the Plant Your Seeds of Transformation podcast, so if you’d like to watch or listen, visit PlantYourSeeds.show.
